How the migration runs, step by step

  1. 1

    WooCommerce audit (24 hours)

We inspect your WordPress + WooCommerce stack: plugin list, customizations, theme code, hosting environment, and storefront performance. We identify which Woo plugins have Shopify equivalents and which need workflow changes. Free quote in 24 hours.

  2. 2

    Shopify store setup (Day 1)

Shopify or Shopify Plus store provisioned. Theme installed and styled to match your existing WooCommerce design. Domain, payment provider, shipping zones, and tax engine configured in parallel with catalog migration.

  3. 3

    Catalog migration (Day 1-3)

WooCommerce products exported via WP-CLI, REST API, or direct database. Variable products mapped to Shopify variants. Custom attributes mapped to Shopify metafields. SEO data (Yoast/RankMath) transferred to Shopify SEO fields.

  4. 4

    Customers + orders (Day 3-4)

Customer accounts imported via Shopify Customer API. WooCommerce passwords cannot transfer (different hashing). Customers receive a branded password-reset email at launch. Historical orders imported as Shopify draft orders for customer-service reference.

  5. 5

Plugin → App mapping (Day 4-5)

WooCommerce plugins replaced with Shopify app equivalents: reviews, subscriptions (Recharge, Bold), wishlists, advanced search, B2B portals, shipping calculators. Each app installed and configured before QA.

  6. 6

Redirect map + SEO preservation (Day 5-6)

Complete 301 map from every WooCommerce URL (/product/slug, /product-category/, /shop, /cart, /checkout) to the corresponding Shopify URL. Sitemap re-submitted to Search Console; conversion tracking validated.

  7. 7

    Zero-downtime cutover (Day 7)

DNS TTL pre-lowered. Final catalog sync at cutover. DNS flipped. WordPress install kept available for 30 days as fallback in case of any issue. Search Console resubmitted with the new sitemap.

Frequently asked questions

Why migrate from WooCommerce to Shopify?+

Most clients leaving WooCommerce cite plugin maintenance fatigue, security headaches (hosting + plugin updates + theme conflicts), checkout performance, and the time spent troubleshooting instead of selling. Shopify trades configurability for managed simplicity: zero server maintenance, fast checkout, consistent uptime, single bill instead of hosting + plugins + maintenance. Whether that trade-off is right depends on your priorities; we discuss it during the free audit.

Will my WooCommerce variable products migrate correctly?+

Yes. Variable products map cleanly to Shopify variants (up to 100 variants per product). Custom product attributes (size, color, material) become Shopify variant options or product metafields, depending on how they're used. Grouped and external products are handled via Shopify product bundle apps or alternative structures.

What about my WooCommerce Subscriptions plugin?+

WooCommerce Subscriptions data migrates to a Shopify subscription app: typically Recharge or Bold. Active subscriptions, billing schedules, and customer payment methods transfer (payment methods require customer-initiated re-authorization for compliance). We coordinate the cutover to avoid any failed renewals.

Will my Yoast / RankMath SEO data transfer?+

Yes. Meta titles, descriptions, focus keywords, and canonical settings transfer from Yoast or RankMath to Shopify's SEO fields. Schema markup is rebuilt on Shopify (it's better to use Shopify's native schema than to port WordPress's). Sitemap is regenerated and submitted to Search Console at cutover.

Will my Google rankings survive?+

When redirect mapping is done correctly, yes. We build a complete 301 map from every WooCommerce URL pattern to the Shopify equivalent. Most stores see 1-3 position variance in the first month with full recovery by week 4. The risk of ranking loss is highest when redirect mapping is skipped or incomplete — which is why this is the most time-consuming step in our process.

What happens to my customer accounts?+

Accounts are migrated with full customer profile data: name, email, addresses, phone, order history reference. Passwords cannot transfer (different hashing). At launch, all customers receive a branded password-reset email. We write the email so it doesn't feel like a security issue.

How much does the migration cost?+

Standard WooCommerce → Shopify migrations (under 1,000 SKUs) start at $4,997 fixed. Shopify Plus migrations start at $8,997. Enterprise migrations are scoped during the free 24-hour audit. All pricing is fixed — no hourly surprises.

Can I keep my domain?+

Yes. You point your existing domain at Shopify after cutover. The transition is invisible to your customers — same URL, same brand. If you have email on the domain (Google Workspace, Microsoft 365), MX records stay where they are; we only update A/CNAME for the website itself.
